Well, I was able to meet some of you at Pride, I was not able to make it to the rides at Bed, Bath & Beyond because I ended up in the VA again. So...I can't quite squeeze into my OutSpokin jersey. (sigh) I don't want to look like a big red hotdog on the Tour de Cure ride (grin). Sadly I don't think I'll have a choice. But as a vegetarian I'm hoping to trim down a bit more-the meds don't help. But...I'm getting ready to go ride Wash Park in a few minutes, I paid for a bike fit so I'm eager to try out the comfort issue, my feet were going numb, but it feels better now. I've got my Tour de Cure link on Facebook and I sent emails out to my friends and family. My goals are coming! They're taking their own sweet time but they're coming.

Courage Classic weekend...

If you are riding the Tour with OUT Spokin', please join us at the start line in Leadville for team photo opportunities at 7:15 a.m. at the start line (bring your camera). That is an early start so we can give everyone plenty of time to get up and over Vail Pass before the risk of afternoon thunderstorms. If you don't wish to start this early, join us for the photo and then hit breakfast. Breakfast is served at Leadville High School. Please wear your OUT Spokin' jersey! We will have Jerseys($50 for members) and Water Bottles($5) for sale at Rainbow Village throughout the tour.

Rainbow Village
The Courage Classic organizers have agreed to allow us to camp by the Chapel, the Chapel is on the Left side of the road into Copper Mountain across from the Fire Station. As in year's past, we'll set up Rainbow Village by the volleyball tent. PLEASE BRING YOUR DÉCOR! We don't care if it is rainbow flags, pink flamingos, or curly ribbons, but just help our space stand out. Campers do not forget your earplugs. I-70 isn't exactly Rocky Mountain High tranquility.

If you aren't camping with us, please don't hesitate to join us each afternoon for a 4pm happy hour. Come to the chapel area and look for us. Even if its raining, we build a mean group shelter. We will be bringing group snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, please plan on making a contribution to help defray costs. Feel free to bring your own Beer/Alcoholic beverage, you can always find room in a cooler. After happy hour we can all go over to dinner. On Sunday night, please be sure to join us at the Burning Stones Plaza for the group photo at 6:40pm (they take these pretty quickly, don't be late). Please wear an OUT Spokin' Jersey for the photo!

For those coming up on Friday night, Tour Check-In will be open from 3:30pm to 8:30pm. If coming up on Saturday, go to the Leadville High School to check in there. Save yourself some time and log into your account on the Courage Tours website and watch the Safety Video before Friday.

Friday night - Join us for OUT Spokin's Courage Classic Kick Off BBQ. Come to Rainbow Village at at 6:00 pm. Bring a side dish to share. We will have burgers (veggie and beef) as well as drinks, condiments and plates. You will be able to reach Pam on her cell phone (303-550-9380).

Saturday morning we will load into our cars and drive from Copper to Leadville for breakfast and the ride start. Please note that Showers will NOT be available on Saturday morning to those camping in Copper; however, they will be available after the ride on Saturday.

Please post forum thread if you have room, or desire, to carpool! We do have riders that could use help getting there and they could help you with gas expenses.

If you haven't already reviewed the Rider Manual, you will find some great information at http://www.couragetours.com/atf/cf/%7B87e66499-4099-49f9-8648-f7c16ea08835%7D/RIDERMANUAL_CC2010.PDF

First off, even if you're not officially participating in the Courage Classic this weekend (our signature and probably best attended charity event of the year), you are more than welcome to join us in Copper for all or part of the weekend. The Social Committee has put together a bunch of fun, off-the-bike-activities in addition to, you know, the official ride.

We're kicking the weekend off with a barbecue at Rainbow Village, the traditional camping location used by the hardy club members who camp, near the chapel in Copper.

When: Friday, July 30th - starting at 6:00 PM
    Where: Rainbow Village
    Who: Everyone!

Burgers (meat and veggie) will be provided by OUTSpokin'. Please bring a side dish to share. Please sign up on the relevant events page for hamburgers or veggie burgers. Please note, this year we will not be buying beer, so please BYOB for the party. Please sign up by July 28th so we know how many burgers to get.

    Vegetarians sign up at http://outspokin.org/content/courage-classic-kick-bbq-veggie)

Bicycle Colorado's Safe Routes to School program encourages kids to ride their bikes to school instead of sitting on the bus. Help promote OUT Spokin' by making a donation to Bicycle Colorado and the Safe Routes to School program. By collectively donating $1,000 to this program, OUT Spokin's team logo will be displayed prominently on Bicycle Colorado's mobile education trailer, which is used to promote bicycle safety at Colorado schools.

Two very dedicated and generous members of OUT Spokin', Kimi Kondo and Carol Avery, have offered to match all donations up to $500 made by other team members. Help us support the Safe Routes program and get our logo on their trailer. Whether you can donate $10 or $100, every donation counts. All donations are tax deductible and should be made payable to Bicycle Colorado. Bring your check to the OUT Spokin' Third Monday dinner on July 19th (6pm at the Cherry Creek Chipotle). If you can't make the dinner, please mail your check made payable to Bicycle Colorado to OUT Spokin', 2635 Hudson St, Denver, CO 80207.

Also, don't forget that our next monthly dinner will take place on Monday, July 19th at 6pm at Chipotle: Cherry Creek - 140 Steele St. If you purchased a patron membership with OUT Spokin' and aren't making it to the Saturday rides, you will be able to pick up your OUT Spokin' socks too!!!!

I enjoy the uphill aspect of mountain biking and wanted to check to see if there were any like minded souls who would be interested in an occasional ride doing some single track mountain biking?

Out Spokin has been asked for years "Do you folks ride Mtn. Bikes"? Well, many of us ride both road and mountain bikes. We hope that everyone in the club will review our MTB rides and join us as we continue to find new trails to enjoy our amazing "backyard" Colorado! Please join us and let me know of additional trails for us to explore: Jeffrey: jcarsonh@comcast.net

In an effort to displace the interlopers until the admins can take care of it.
This week's email, which not everyone gets (yet), announces that we're having a training ride planning meeting later this month, on the 20th of July. All members of the club are invited to and welcome at the meeting.
We really do want input from members of the club, riding at any level on training rides we should offer, or even on events in which we could participate. Tell us the rides that you want to see the club leading, ideas about good rides or outings that you think other members would enjoy. Even if you don't want to lead a ride (and there's no reason why you shouldn't if you are a responsible adult and know the route), we want ideas. Please drop me a note through the contact tab if you want information on the meeting location, or to share some ideas.
