Just Ride!! Life with Bikes.

There is a great youtube video that is from the TEDx MileHigh event. The presentation was given by Allen Lim, who is the Director of Sports Science and Technology for Team Radio Shack. To watch the video, click on the following link:

Share your pictures!

Keep our website fresh and fun by sharing pictures of your riding adventures and OUT Spokin' events. It's easy to post. In the upper left corner there is a Tab named "Photos". By using this tab you can view all of our photos, or upload your own.

What's the difference between a Blog and a Forum post?

Blogs and Forums are often found on the web, but what's the difference between the two and which one should I use?

  • Blogs should be used more for a place to tell your personal story or share information that you think is important, sort of a personal journal. Blogs do allow comments; however, the comments should be about the original post not necessarily a discussion thread.
  • The forums should be used when you are either asking a question or wanting to start a discussion thread with other riders. This is a more appropriate back and forth format, which encourages short replies.

How to get on the Out Spokin' e-mail list

Are you on the Out Spokin' website, but you don't get our weekly e-mails? We don't automatically sign users up for weekly e-mails because you can get all the news on our website; however, some people prefer to get updates sent directly to their inbox. If you want to receive weekly e-mails, use the following link to sign up for our e-mail list. You will be asked to give us your e-mail address and a few other details, after that you will receive 1 to 2 e-mails a week during the cycling season.

Please remember that to communicate with the entire team you can start a Forum thread to discuss a topic. Forums are a great way that you can have discussions about upcoming events.

OUT Spokin' member keeps his sense of humor...

OUT Spokin' member David Barr, currently riding Ride the Rockies(RtR), keeps his sense of humor on a hard day of riding. David was pictured in the Denver Post while on a rest stop for the RtR. It is good to see him smiling as this was a day that included a hard climb and some cold weather. Send some warm thoughts David's way.

What you need to know - Ride Nutrition

This is a common question from new riders as well as teammates that have ridden for years and just starting to ride longer rides...

If you are riding longer than 2 hours, you will need to consume calories, carbs and electrolytes or you may "bonk" when your glycogen stores are used up. Trust me, if you have "bonked" you know the feeling, it's no fun. Plan your ride nutrition by bringing along sports drinks, gels, or other healthy snacks such as fig cookies, bananas or energy bars. That's why our OUT Spokin' jerseys have those wonderful pockets, a.k.a. pockets of requirements.

Sorry and a big Thank You!!

We had an awesome turnout today for the 3-way ride, especially for the beginners. Unfortunately the wind gusts were extremely strong, which made some unsafe riding conditions. Due to the high winds, we had to cancel both the Beginner and the Advanced rides for safety reasons.

LGBT SportsFest

Join OUT Spokin' in Denver's first LGBT SportsFest. There are three days of festivities planned starting with a kick off party at JR's on Friday, June 4th. On Saturday and Sunday(June 5th & 6th) there will be several Denver Sports Clubs on hand in Cook Park(Click for Map). Join OUT Spokin' for bike rides on both days.

OUT Spokin' will also be running a Bike Valet so people can bring their bikes and not have to worry about them while they are enjoying the festivities. We will be looking for volunteers to help with this effort, so please let us know if you can take a shift or two at the Bike Valet.

Saturday's ride will include longer options for those wanting longer distances; however, we will start and end in the park so you can join in the festivities after the ride.

Sunday's ride will include our famous Park to Park ride. This is a great ride for all levels. It is an easier cruise to several of the Denver Parks, including a little history along the way. Join us for the ride, and maybe a Popsicle if the weather is nice.

Community Classic Bike Ride

It was another great year for the Community Classic Bike ride. It started out a bit chilly but warmed up just right. I was grumbling when I was walking out my door at 5am for a 6:30am ride start. But when it came time to get started I was ready to roll. I had a great ride and enjoyed the company of several other OUT Spokin' peeps.

It is a beautiful ride, a great mix of rolling plains and uphill climbs. This ride is always a great way to push yourself early in the season. After you cross the finish line you are greeted with a hot breakfast, by that point you are starving and breakfast never tasted sooooo good.
