The Courage Classic is finally here!!
Courage Classic weekend...
If you are riding the Tour with OUT Spokin', please join us at the start line in Leadville for team photo opportunities at 7:15 a.m. at the start line (bring your camera). That is an early start so we can give everyone plenty of time to get up and over Vail Pass before the risk of afternoon thunderstorms. If you don't wish to start this early, join us for the photo and then hit breakfast. Breakfast is served at Leadville High School. Please wear your OUT Spokin' jersey! We will have Jerseys($50 for members) and Water Bottles($5) for sale at Rainbow Village throughout the tour.
Rainbow Village
The Courage Classic organizers have agreed to allow us to camp by the Chapel, the Chapel is on the Left side of the road into Copper Mountain across from the Fire Station. As in year's past, we'll set up Rainbow Village by the volleyball tent. PLEASE BRING YOUR DÉCOR! We don't care if it is rainbow flags, pink flamingos, or curly ribbons, but just help our space stand out. Campers do not forget your earplugs. I-70 isn't exactly Rocky Mountain High tranquility.
If you aren't camping with us, please don't hesitate to join us each afternoon for a 4pm happy hour. Come to the chapel area and look for us. Even if its raining, we build a mean group shelter. We will be bringing group snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, please plan on making a contribution to help defray costs. Feel free to bring your own Beer/Alcoholic beverage, you can always find room in a cooler. After happy hour we can all go over to dinner. On Sunday night, please be sure to join us at the Burning Stones Plaza for the group photo at 6:40pm (they take these pretty quickly, don't be late). Please wear an OUT Spokin' Jersey for the photo!
For those coming up on Friday night, Tour Check-In will be open from 3:30pm to 8:30pm. If coming up on Saturday, go to the Leadville High School to check in there. Save yourself some time and log into your account on the Courage Tours website and watch the Safety Video before Friday.
Friday night - Join us for OUT Spokin's Courage Classic Kick Off BBQ. Come to Rainbow Village at at 6:00 pm. Bring a side dish to share. We will have burgers (veggie and beef) as well as drinks, condiments and plates. You will be able to reach Pam on her cell phone (303-550-9380).
Saturday morning we will load into our cars and drive from Copper to Leadville for breakfast and the ride start. Please note that Showers will NOT be available on Saturday morning to those camping in Copper; however, they will be available after the ride on Saturday.
Please post forum thread if you have room, or desire, to carpool! We do have riders that could use help getting there and they could help you with gas expenses.
If you haven't already reviewed the Rider Manual, you will find some great information at http://www.couragetours.com/atf/cf/%7B87e66499-4099-49f9-8648-f7c16ea08835%7D/RIDERMANUAL_CC2010.PDF
Packing List and reminders...
Afternoon rain showers are a fact of life in the high country, so please be sure you have a decent tent, rainfly and ground cloth. Other pointers for the camping crowd ... don't forget a towel, soap, and anything you need to sleep comfortably.
